Troubleshooting

Here are solutions for technical problems that might come up using PhotoMeister:

Importing Photos

PhotoMeister does not recognize my camera
For importing digital photographs from a camera, PhotoMeister requires a digital camera connected to your PC via a serial, USB, or FireWire interface and a software driver for your camera. This driver must show the camera's memory in the Windows Explorer's drive list! Most newer digital cameras have that anyway. The other options are to use a serial or USB memory-card reader or the camera’s TWAIN driver, if available. Most of these card reader devices show the data from the memory card in Windows Explorer. (Please consult your camera's/reader's manual for details.)

CD Writing

Note: First please update to the latest version if you don’t already have and retry CD writing.

CD writing does not work. My CD writer is not recognized
On some machines PhotoMeister has trouble recognizing the CD writer. Please get an alternate WNASPI32.DLL ASPI layer driver and copy the file into the directory where you have installed PhotoMeister (usually c:\program files\photomeister). There are several companies publishing WNASPI32.DLL files, here are two that we recommend:

Ahead Software AG (makers of NERO CD software products): ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll

Adaptec Inc.: download from http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/suppdetail.html?prodkey=ASPI-4.70

CD writing does not work. I get the error "Send CUE sheet failed"
Please restart the CD wizard and enable the "Alternate Writing Method (TAO)" option on the page where you select your writer device.

If both methods do not help, please download ">PhotoMeister's CD Writer Test (200kb), run the software and send us the logfile (instructions are inside the program!).

Viewing Photos on Video CDs using DVD Players

I cannot view the photos from a VCD created with PhotoMeister on my DVD player There are several reasons that can cause this:

When viewing VCDs on my DVD/VCD player I don't see transitions and I don't hear the music. But when I test the slideshow on the PC everything is fine.
Please do not mix up the slideshow (for Windows) and the VCD format:

Sending Emails

Sending of emails does not work
To send emails with PhotoMeister you need a MAPI compatible email software that is installed and configured on your computer. For example Outlook 2000, Outlook Express, Netscape Mail and others are MAPI compatible. Please configure and test your email client first, then - in the mail program options, set them to be the MAPI handler on your computer.

I am still having problems with sending email via MAPI
PhotoMeister uses the standard MAPI interface on your computer to send emails. Well known MAPI compliant e-mail software include Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express, Novell GroupWise and Netscape Messenger. Pegasus Mail is not MAPI compatible. Unfortunately the MAPI settings can be quite mixed up when several email clients are installed/upgraded/deinstalled on your computer. Apart from trying to reinstall your email program there is no simple way to cure these problems. We have set up a list of resources to help you.

Correcting MAPI Problems

Here are some links that deal with MAPI setup problems that might help with your special configuration:

Microsoft:

Lotus Notes: Novell Groupwise: Eudora: Are There Multiple E-Mail Clients Installed?
Sometimes, problems can arise if multiple e-mail clients are installed on the same system. To check which e-mail clients have been installed: In situations where multiple e-mail clients have been installed, problems can arise where the last e-mail client installed overwrites other MAPI settings and DLL files of the MAPI client with which you are trying to integrate. This is particularly a problem with Outlook Express and Outlook when they are installed on top of a different e-mail client with which you are trying to integrate.

When problems occur with multiple e-mail clients, we recommend the following procedures:
